The Festival Maal Hijrah 1445H/2023 organized by Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Masjid Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS) closed its curtain after lasting 3 days since last July 28. The inauguration of this postponement ceremony was completed by Sarawak's Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty), Dr. Haji Hazland bin Abang Hipni.
Also in presence were the Chief Executive Officer of LAKMNS, Datuk Haji Abang Abdul Wahap bin Haji Abang Julai, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mr Mohamad Feisal bin Said, senior management of LAKMNS, and representatives from the festival's sponsors and collaboration partners.
Datuk Haji Abang Abdul Wahap stated in his welcome speech that the theme of this festival is "Sustainability for the Well-Being of the Ummah," and that this theme was chosen to support the state government's initiative in empowering environmental sustainability. He added that LAKMNS believes that this effort will at the very least raise public awareness about environmental sustainability.
Meanwhile, Dr Haji Hazland bin Abang Hipni praised the efforts of LAKMNS in organizing programs like this festival. He said it is hoped that this festival will continue to be held in the coming years and become an example to other mosques and suraus, especially throughout Sarawak.
Dr Haji Hazland also completed the event of lowering the flag as a symbol of the postponement of the festival.
