Psychology and Counselling Unit or Unit Psikologi dan Kaunseling (UPKL) is a new unit under the Human Resource Management and Administration Group which was officially established in November 2018.

The purpose of the establishment of the Psychology and Counselling Unit is one of the initiatives of LAKMNS’s management to catalyse the well-being and develop human capital among the staffs of LAKMNS through psychological and counselling means.

This step is believed to be able to produce comprehensive and holistic human capital. Knowledge and skills in the psychological application are seen as important components in the effort of improving human capital. Issues that occur in organisations such as low morale, discipline, integrity and performance need to be solved with prudence and wisdom.

Additionally, these issues are difficult to comprehend because they are related to internal factors such as personality, faith, emotion and thought process. Identification of the problem and solution can be done through the use of psychological methods which are both swift and accurate.

Psychological and counselling approach is emphasised by this new unit in order to develop human capital especially in aspects like development, prevention and recovery. Psychological application in managing staffs is an activity that emphasises thinking elements, behaviour and individual emotional state in working environment.

The implementation of the activity is a continuous improvement effort in developing human capital. It involves personal assessment, personnel development, research and intervention. From that, it can increase the efficiency of staff management in an effort to create a conducive and harmonic working environment.

Presently, the service provided by Psychology and Counselling Unit in LAKMANS is also opened to other parties.
