KUCHING (5 November 2020) – Now, a long history of Kuching City Mosque available to access through its digital information kiosk. The newly interactive information kiosk ceremony was officially launched by Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Sarawak (MTAC).
The installation of the interactive kiosk is a collaborative effort between LAKMNS and UNIMAS as well as Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHE) as one of Kampung Heritage Trail, a part of Sarawak Government project focused on preserving Sarawak heritages sites.
Kuching City Mosque was chosen based on its record as one of earliest mosques to be built in Kuching dating back to 1830s. The mosque went through a number of restructuring.
In addition accessing historical information, visitors also have the opportunity to experience exploring the mosque virtually using Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in his speech said that the idea of the Masjid Tour Guide by LAKMNS are in line with the Sarawak State government’s vision to introduce and preserve Sarawak’s heritage.
The launching ceremony was witnessed by Datu Dr.Sabariah Putit, Deputy State Secretary, Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Haji Abang Julai, CEO of LAKMNS, Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim bin Suaidi, Vice-Chancellor of UNIMAS and others VIP.
