17th September 2022 - Sarawak State Jamek Mosque has received a visit from Chung Hwa Middle School No. 1. A group of 276 people consisting of the Principal, Cikgu Yap Chong Guan, teachers, and the school's sixth (6) grade students.
The goal of this visit is to increase students' knowledge and understanding of Islamic religion or culture as taught in textbooks. Furthermore, the purpose of this visit is to teach the next generation to cooperate and tolerate one another to build a prosperous Sarawakian family.
Mr Abang Bikusary bin Haji Kadir, Chief Officer of the Mosque Management Department (JPMM), Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Masjid Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS), and JPMM officers and staff welcomed the delegation's arrival.
Mr Abang Bikusary welcomed the group's arrival in his welcome speech. According to him, such visits can foster a sense of unity among people of different races while also providing a platform for them to get to know and understand one another. Mr Abang Bikusary added that it was the first visit in LAKMNS history, particularly to the Sarawak State Jamek Mosque, where the majority of Chinese students and teachers were present.
Earlier, the group was treated to a recitation of Quranic holy verses by Assistant Islamic Affairs Officer LAKMNS Ustaz Mohd Arman Ismady bin Ismail.
The participants were then led on a tour of the mosque.
