KUCHING, 9 December 2020 - The ceremony took place at Dewan Majma’ Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Kuching officiated by the Most Honorable Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak and Chairman of LAKMNS.
The idea to establish MATTARY is an effort of Sarawak State Government to produce more professional Hafiz. The MATTARY learning system is based on dual curriculum, namely the Integrated Tahfiz Al Quran Curriculum (KTAB) and the Primary School Standard Curriculum (KSSR).
Since the first intake of students in 2011, one of the significant achievement is memorizing 30 chapters of the Al Quran. In total, 30 percent of the student successfully memorized seven chapters and above while the rest managed to memorize two to six chapters.
Meanwhile in academic, in 2019 MATTARY has received a Certificate of Academic Excellence from Sarawak State Department of Education for the achievement of Grade ‘A’ in all subjects surpassing the percentage of national level achievement in UPSR 2018 and the “Sijil Usaha Gigih” for showing a great improvement in UPSR.
Among the biggest achievement of Mattary students in co-curricular is winning the gold medal in the World Mathematics Competition in Philiphines in 2017. In conjunction with 10th anniversary, also held book launch “MATTARY: Toward Producing Quran Generation”.
Also present were Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Datuk Haji Misnu bin Haji Taha, MIS President, Datu Haji Junaidi bin Haji Reduan, Kuching North City Commission Mayor, Board Members of LAKMNS, Toh Puan Hajah Hayati binti Ahmat, Datuk Haji Abang Abdul Wahap bin Haji Abang Julai, Chief Executive Officer LAKMNS,and other honorable guests.
